Family files $50,000 claim in gas explosion death
James Laidlaw Jr., 17, killed in a December blast in Long Beach while near a water line project by Maceo Corp. His parents Irene and James Laidlaw sue the city for negligence and seek reimbursed expenses and damages totaling $50,000. The case is referred to the City Council for action.
