Handball decision delayed on YMCA site plan
The City Planning Commission gave 30 days to overcome a 75 percent neighbor protest against retaining the handball courts at 075 California Ave as part of plans by Justice Investment Co. to build three family dwellings on the former YMCA site. A private handball club may form, with up to 80 members, prompting objections about a private commercial use and impact on the neighborhood. The protest group cited a windowless two-story building and inadequate parking as concerns.
