Cmdr Ronald J O Hays led a Kitty Hawk jet on a night raid against Bec Giang power plant near Hanoi, dropping 13 000 pounds of bombs. Guaranteed Wage Demands From UAW Leaders
UAW President Walter P. Reuther announced from Atlantic City that the union will not sign 1967 contracts without a guaranteed annual income, equal pay for Canadian workers, and a substantial wage increase. He tied U.S.-Canada parity to wage gains and warned of a strike if needed. He attacked AFL-CIO head George Meany as a “plumber” with a “banker’s mentality” and said labor unity exists in form only, while the movement reddens.
