Court blocks Charlotte desegregation busing plan
The Supreme Court declined to reinstate a Charlotte-Mecklenburg School busing order, signaling a setback for desegregation efforts. Judge McMillan's plan would have bused at least 14,000 more students citywide, despite funding concerns and protests from officials. The case heads to the US District Court in Richmond for April arguments.
