Harbor aide Ed ward Hill's expense probe by LAPD
Los Angeles police opened an inquiry into expense statements by Ed ward Hill Harbor Department chief wharfinger and mayoral candidate for general manager. The probe covers November 1973 to January 1974 with possible felony referrals to the district attorney or city attorney jurisdiction for misdemeanors. Hill, homebound with pneumonia, said the records must pass scrutiny and noted press coverage followed a closed council meeting. The Harbor Board invited internal candidates for interviews under Civil Service rules, with Walsh eliminated and Whiteneck and Hill remaining among internal hopefuls as outside contenders also considered.
