Pilot uninjured in crash landing at Grass Valley airpark
Santa Cruz man BR E Mc Granaham, 31, escaped injury Thursday afternoon after his twin engine plane landed without landing gear at Nevada County Airpark. The craft skidded 200 feet to a stop, with two bent propellers and a scratched bottom. McGransham, employed by F M Engineering Contractors of Santa Cruz, said he did not know gear failure until touchdown.

Kennedy says end of Vietnam era unlikely despite gains
In San Francisco Senator Edward Kennedy expressed serious reservations about exit prospects from Vietnam Laos and Cambodia saying he did not see an end of the war in sight and that a withdrawal through Cambodia and Laos was not likely. He spoke at a labor meeting while touting a comprehensive national health insurance plan and expressed hope it would pass this session. In Sacramento Governor Reagan urged urgency for a bill to add one million dollars to the Cal-Vet disaster fund strained by Southern California events.
