Reagan seeks tough smog rules for older cars
Governor Ronald Reagan urged California lawmakers to require smog control devices on 1967-70 model cars and stricter filters on newer autos, plus lead content limits in gasoline. The plan calls for 1955-68 models to have pollution controls, guarantees on systems for 50 000 miles, and faster basin wide plans by January 25, 1972. He said bills would be introduced next week.

Reagan seeks June primary for East L A Senate seat
Democrats accuse Gov. Reagan of political gambits by delaying a special election until June 22 in East Los Angeles to fill the vacant 27th Senate seat formerly held by Danielson. A runoff would follow July 20 if no majority. Dymally calls it disenfranchisement during a tight Senate majority as lawmakers schedule July 30 adjournment.
