New NASA Planning Chief Von Braun Brings Style and Vision
Washington reports detail Wernher von Braun appointed deputy associate administrator for planning at NASA. The Huntsville rocket legend, 58 in March, is described as dynamic and credible, with decades of rocket theory and practical spaceflight work. He will earn 36,000 a year in Washington, and his past work includes Germany’s wartime rocketry and leading America’s moon program. He is seen as a strong advocate for Mars exploration should a future program be approved.
