City's Case Against Aide in Wrapup
Special counsel Weller Anderson told the Torrance Civil Service Commission he is within 6 to 10 minutes of closing the city's case against Public Works Director Walter Nollac on 17 misconduct charges. Nollac, suspended from a $25,000 a year job in December, faces claims of favoritism toward Kenneth Battram and others as the city has spent two months presenting its attempts to prove the charges. Anderson reserved the right to call rebuttal witnesses Toriyuki Fuji Leonard and Robert Schneider, who have refused to appear despite subpoenas and a court order. Their attorney Dudley Gray plans further appeals arguing subpoenas were improperly signed and a fishing expedition for company records.
