Brown Faces Two Rivals in California Democratic Primary
In California Brown faced two potential challengers for the Democratic presidential primary. George McLain, a Los Angeles promoter, and retired Army Brig. Gen. Darbert C. Holdridge emerged as rivals, while Nixon ran uncontested in the Republican ticket. Officials reported no major surprises on credentials and delegate organization. A separate note from Washington covers a 2-year-old girl’s blood plea to ensure supply for a needed heart operation, with Red Cross assurance of available blood.
