Russians Rescued After 49 Days Adrift at Sea
Four Russians drifting 1,020 miles off Midway Island were rescued aboard the USS Kearsarge. They survived on shoe leather, bread, canned beef, coffee, and vodka, losing 35 to 40 pounds but remaining in good spirits.
