Montreal reports: A young wife received 360 pounds after a fall left an eight inch scar on her left thigh. Judge G B Puddicombe stated a woman's thigh is not wholly private and must be considered in the injury award.
United Auto Workers announce progress toward a new contract with Autolite plants in eight locations. If no deal is reached by Friday noon, a strike may begin affecting about 5,000 workers across sites, with the current contract expiring March 1.

The U S Court of Appeals upholds FCC power to permit a three year pay television trial in Hartford. Judge Edgerton says Congress authorized study and experimental use of frequencies. Cape Canaveral launches OSO-1 a solar observatory to study sun earth relations and solar energy effects. The satellite aims to chart an 11 year sunspot cycle and advance understanding of space weather and its impact on Earth and space travel. Dr Hugh Dryden hails OSO-1 as a leap in scientific space exploration.
About 200 members of the Texas 49th Division gathered outside Ft. Polk service club to write and wire congressmen in protest of what they termed inequities in their military terms. The group was active during the Berlin crisis last fall.
