Rescued miner saw flood take two pass

Ronald Adley waited five days for rescuers to save him from a flooded coal mine at Big Lick Mountain in Tower City Pennsylvania. Ten men were trapped. four bodies recovered. Adley, 37, walked to the surface after digging his escape tunnel. Two fellow workers, Ralph Renninger and Donald Shoffler, were found dead down the shaft. Rescue crews planned to lower a camera and drill a new probe as they pursued the remaining missing miners.

Flaming Auto Crash Injures Two Lakewood Residents

Two Lakewood residents were injured in a crash at the intersection of Del Amo Boulevard and Downey Avenue Sunday night. Duane DuPault, 40, was treated at Kaiser Hospital Bellflower in fair condition, while Charles McHale, 16, was hospitalized in wood condition after his car burst into flames. a sheriff helicopter directed fire units to the scene.

Japan Area Hit by Strong Quake Near Nemuro

A strong earthquake struck Nemuro on Japan’s northern Hokkaido region with no damage or injuries reported. The Central Meteorological Agency measured intensity at four on the seven point scale and estimated the focus about 25 miles beneath the North Pacific off Nemuro.
