Otepka Appointment Seen Ending State Security Battle
A proposed post on the Subversive Activities Control Board may offer Otto FL Otepka, the State Department’s ousted chief security evaluator, a $36 000 a year role that could settle a five year dispute. He was fired for alleged disclosures from State files and fought his discharge through hearings ending with Dean Rusk’s demotion order later upheld by the Civil Service Commission. He remains on leave without pay pending possible court appeal.
