Pope Pius XII Praised Catholics Aiding Jews Says Vatican
Vatican releases wartime documents showing Pope Pius XII praised German Catholics who helped Jews. Letters to Berlin officials dated 1943 express Catholic support for non Aryans and Jewish believers, noting sympathy for Monsignor Bernhard Lichtenberg, arrested by Nazis. The second volume counters The Deputy controversy and widens access to archives.
