Minibus helps seniors reach services in Long Beach zone
Senior Opportunities and Services SOS secured a $12,300 federal grant to buy a nine passenger minibus operated since mid December. In January it carried 409 people on 138 trips to hospitals stores doctors and social services while volunteers plan more drivers and a shuttle network. Public transit gaps and high fares push elderly isolation and limited civic participation, prompting a three month study on senior fares and routes.
