New Navy Relief Leader Guides Long Beach Volunteers
Mrs Lillian Nelson takes over as chairwoman of volunteers for the Navy Relief Society Auxiliary in Long Beach guiding about 20000 hours of aid by 300 Navy wives. She replaces Clare Price and has served in Thrift Shops at 47 naval installations. The Long Beach auxiliary reports nearly 8000 cases and grants totaling about $500000 in 1959, largely as loans to Navy families with some gratuities in hardship cases.
