Pope in protest as bishop convicted halts coronation anniversary
Pope Pius XII postpones the March 12 celebration marking the 29th anniversary of his coronation. The halt follows a Prato bishop Pietro Fiordelli’s defamation conviction, amid Vatican expressions of grief and sorrow from around the world. The pope appeared at St. Peter's Square blessing about 20,000 attendees.
