Capitol Bombing Probe Opens With Army Testimony
The 67th Ordnance Battalion at Ft. McNair testified at a congressional inquiry into the Capitol blast that damaged about six offices in the Senate wing. Joyner suggested the device may have been clock-related and possibly dynamite, perhaps 15 to 20 pounds, enough to fit a briefcase. The bomb was placed in an unmarked lavatory on the Capitol’s ground floor near the rotunda area, a room little used and largely unknown to many Capitol staff.
