Water Department Budget Slashed by City Council
Long Beach council cuts 360,000 from the Water Department proposed 1977-78 budget while approving the city manager's 14 million city budget. The vote, 2-1, sparks debate over the agency's past savings and potential rate increases, with critics calling the move punitive while officials defend fiscal restraint.
