Supervisors trim tax rate and approve large 1973 74 budget
Long Beach area supervisors tentatively cut the county general fund property levy by 10.04 cents to 3.9268 per 100 of assessed value while adopting a 2.9 billion 1973 74 budget. The action funds a wide intake of projects including parks land, hospital improvements, a botanical gardens building, parking structures, and sheriff station expansions. Revenue sharing funds enable the lower rate though final assessment rolls in August may adjust further if construction grows. The package totals 2.47 billion in general fund plus 268 million in a special fund and 214.3 million in a district fund with additions for regional projects across Long Beach.
