Comey Parson Tanner group calls cleanup of bird-killing sumps
Environmental Defense Fund attorney Thomas Graff urges Berkeley and state action to force oil companies to clean oil sumps that killed over 100,000 birds in California last year. Pools and outflows near drilling sites trap birds and contaminate drinking water, he says. He criticizes industry influence over officials and cites 1,700 syrups in the San Joaquin Valley as evidence of widespread contamination.
