In Berkeley UC students and street people begin converting a World War II housing block into a nationwide People's Pad. Mario Savio returns to Sproul Plaza to rally supporters who plan a three month lease and a summer cleanup to repurpose the Savo Island site as a youth hostel for national youth access. Frank Bardacke of the People's Park committee outlines rent strikes and boycotts as reactions to the Regents' rejection of a People's Park.
