Trial set for Medina murder case at My Lai inquiry
A military judge refused to drop murder and assault charges against Capt. Ernest Medina, whose unit staged the 1968 My Lai assault. Trial expected late summer with jury selection around July 19. Judge Kenneth Howard denied most defense motions, allowed access to a classified report, and ordered disclosure of witness names despite 100 subpoenas. Medina expressed confidence, stating he awaits trial and expects to be found innocent. Ten witnesses, including two generals, testified during the six days.
