Third Army legal chief Col Wilson Freeman testified that it seemed probable the government could not prove Captain Ernest Medina ordered a massacre at My Lai. Freeman faced tough questions about public opinion influence and timing of charges while insisting his office remained neutral. The hearing also covered Lt General Albert Connor's denial of military conspiracy, and Calley’s conviction appeal amid ongoing trial actions.
