California Supreme Court redefines child custody rule
In a 5 2 decision the California Supreme Court ruled that a juvenile court need only find that parental custody would be detrimental to the child to award custody to a non parent, applying the 1969 Family Law Act to juvenile cases. The matter stems from a Czech mother seeking custody after her children were placed with American foster parents.
