Plans announced for 32-story rotating tower at Ports of Call
William A. Nott of Ports of Call Village revealed to the Los Angeles Harbor Commission a 328-foot steel rotating observation tower to rise on a 6,400 square foot lot at entry to the restaurant shopping complex. Sky-Trans Industries says a twolevel capsule will carry 60 passengers per ascent, with a five minute ride to the 231-foot level. Construction could start early next year after feasibility studies and financing are finalized. The £200,000 tower is part of a twin project with a second tower planned for Osaka and Sea World San Diego, to be shipped in sections after Japanese tests.
