Ward attempted to persuade Dist. Atty. Joseph Busch to seek court permission to refire the weapon linked to Sirhan in the Kennedy assassination. He held a hearing where criminologists noted distinct bullet markings from Kennedy and a bystander. Supervisors Schabarum Debs and Hayes opposed reopening the inquiry, saying the grand jury and district attorney already investigated it. Ward said he would pursue the matter privately.
