John St Cyr Banjo Jazz Artist Dies at 76
John St Cyr a pioneer banjo jazz artist of New Orleans Dixieland era died of leukemia in Los Angeles at 76. He had lived in Los Angeles 20 years and worked as a plastering contractor. He found fame with the Mid City bands in New Orleans and played with Fats Marable and Louis Armstrong among others before retiring to conduct his plastering business and perform with the Young Men from New Orleans aboard the Mark Twain riverboat at Disney land.
