Compromise environmental bill ready for Legislature
Gov Reagan and conservationists reach a compromise on a sweeping environmental bill to create an independent seven member protection board. It would replace existing air and water boards and assume solid waste duties, with initial duties limited to water quality and possible later expansion. The measure, backed by Assemblyman Edwin L Wherg, would begin July 1 1973 and seek quick legislative approval.
