Crowds flock to film claiming San Francisco faces deadly quake
In San Francisco crowds flood four daily showings of a BBC film titled The City That Waits to Die, warning of a possible 30 100000 casualty quake on the San Andreas fault. Alvin Duskin promotes the screening to debate banning tall buildings, saying the aim is to scare residents into voting against new skyscrapers. The feature, bought for 600 and alleged to be suppressed by interests, draws critics as the hottest underground movie in town.
