Last inmate recaptured in Brushy Mountain prison escape

Woman CHP officer shoots suspect in gas station scuffle

Jan Gray, 26, a California Highway Patrol officer, is believed to be the first female CHP officer to kill a person in the line of duty. She and partner Daven Morey, 31, confronted a transient from Texas who had threatened an elderly couple at a rural Barstow gas station.
