EOC Ignores Us Central LB Says Protest Over Seats

Residents of Long Beach central district protested lack of representation on the Economic Opportunities Committee. The EOC discussed forming a Community Action Program board with more autonomy and budgeted 84 108 for CAP staff. Seven positions remained unfilled, four low income and three from the community, with central-area residents urged to be represented. Don Gill said positions would be democratically filled as the new agency formed. Verne Horn noted positions must be broadly based.

Long Beach Crusade Announces Top Officials and Campaign Roles

The 1966 Long Beach United Crusade leadership was named by chairman Phil Hattery with Don Gill as vice chair and Mrs. Dorothy Wise as residential chair. Bob Taylor heads Commerce and Industry, Mills Hodge leads Pace Letter, and Charles Grose, Jack Lynch, and Paul Nicoi are assigned to Bel flower, Paramount, and Long Beach respectively. Douglas Aircraft backs the drive with Roy Anderson, while county agencies and Red Cross chapters participate. the prior county campaign raised 20 trillion dollars.

Red Cross Names Officers in Orange County Chapter

Newport Beach attorney Paul Hanna is the new chair man of the Orange County chapter of the American Red Cross. He succeeds Ken Wines of Anaheim. Other new officers include Roy Heissner of Anaheim as first vice chairman Wines as second vice chairman Mrs Clyde Lyles of Fullerton as secretary Lon Pierson of Anaheim as treasurer and Mrs William Pl Boland Jr of Newport Beach as chairman of volunteers.

Miss Lakewood contestant disqualified over marriage status

Lakewood officials disqualified 22 year old Jean Kook din from the Miss Lakewood finals for having been married and a child. Chamber of Commerce manager McLaughlin replaced a panel member after the Buena Park fire where a woman died. Rivals Harass Port City Over Sea Land Deal Hearings

Long Beach official claims rival ports including Los Angeles harass the Port of Long Beach over a Sea Land of California contract. The hearing before a Federal Maritime Commission examiner will decide if the deal violates the Shipping Act and merits charges of unfair discrimination and public interest harm.

Torrance Summer Session Prepares for 14 000 Students

More than 14 000 students are expected to attend Torrance six week summer session starting Monday in Torrance schools. Dr. Lloyd Jones, a curriculum consultant, says all elementary and high schools will offer the program focusing on academic subjects with registration on the first day of classes.

Burglary Hits Fullerton Men's Wear Store
