Crackdown on Waste in Defense Pledged
Budget Director Robert Mayo pledged that the Nixon Administration will cancel contracts with inefficient and wasteful military suppliers and fire involved Pentagon officials. He spoke in a Senate subcommittee exchange with Sen. Proxmire urging stronger action to curb waste and tighten the defense budget. Defense Secretary Melvin Laird said he would review any specific contracts raised.
