Secretary's Brother Shoots Boss for Fooling Around
In New York, James Patrick Mullooly, 41, secretary Mary Mullory's brother and traveling auditor for Great Lakes Carbon, admitted shooting Taylor S. Gay, 54, vice president of Phillips Petroleum, in a Hudson Terminal telephone booth. Gay, riding with Mullory after a dinner, was wounded in the side by a 25 caliber pistol. Gay, Harvard 1929 graduate, earned about $90,000 annually. Mullooly said the motive was to prevent harm to his sister.

Rockefeller Seen as GOP Nominee in 1964

Though Nixon, Romney, Scranton, and Goldwater are discussed as possible contenders, Rockefeller’s re election and record offer a strong base for a bid. Poll Shows Democrats Likely to Gain in November
A union conducted poll of Communications Workers of America members indicates Democrats could win control of the House and Senate this November. The survey, taken in April, shows Kennedy's popularity rising after opposing a steel price rise, with strong support for aged care under Social Security and GOP criticisms of Congress. It notes Truman's 1948 victory as a referenced benchmark and suggests no impact yet from the Bill Estes scandal or stock market volatility.
