Senate moves to require treatment for heroin addicted GIs
The Senate approved an amendment to force military services to identify and rehabilitate alcohol and drug addicts in Vietnam. It cites up to 60,000 GIs using hard drugs, urges rehabilitation within service and, if needed, up to three years civil commitment or VA custody. It would raise penalties for in service drug pushers to twenty years.
