Naval Fight on San Francisco Bay Houseboats
A noisy houseboat dispute in Sausalito escalated into a mock naval confrontation on San Francisco Bay. Deputies and Coast Guard cutters battled to move 30 Marin County banned houseboats, while a Chinese junk and assorted small boats opposed them. One beached vessel moved ashore but no one was seriously hurt and no shots were fired. Artist Russell Grisham, 24, attempted a knife standoff but was disarmed. Sheriff Richard Larson said to seek Board of Supervisors guidance next.
