Marines Discharge Two Klan Leaders at Camp Pendleton
Two Marines acknowledged as leaders of the Ku Klux Klan at Camp Pendleton are to be discharged this week. Pfc. Dennis L. Campbell 22 from Smthcreek Michigan and Pfc. Ronnie Sherper 19 from Pensacola Florida will be released as the Marines finalize actions against remaining KKK members. A fourth Marine Pfc. Charles V. Smith 18 of Houston Texas remains to be discharged after return to military jurisdiction from unauthorized absences. The move follows earlier efforts to fragment the KKK presence at the base amid racial tensions and a clash at a whites beer party.
