Transportation Center in Long Beach OKd for Senior Center
The proposal envisions a 14.4 million Transportation Center downtown with a Senior Citizens Center inside, delaying other elderly facilities. City officials debated timing and use, with support noting regional leadership while others warned remodeling a utilities building would delay a new center. A monorail style system and mass transit integration were discussed, with cost estimates around 18 million for three miles and RTD involvement possible for station work.
