Door to door solicitation controls advance at county meeting
County supervisors approved in principle a draft ordinance to regulate door to door solicitations, setting a second vote for next Tuesday. A $50 fine would apply for each unpermitted solicitation, with rules requiring official identification for solicitors. Objections from March of Dimes, Heart Association and Multiple Sclerosis Association were voiced, while United Way supported the measure but noted minimal impact on its fundraising. The panel also rejected private operation of the county trash service, asking EMA to study costs and plans, signaling continued interest in commercial rubbish management despite warnings of higher costs and possible service disruptions.
