Contractors veto carpenter's raise in Los Angeles
A contractors panel rejected a tentative wage offer for Southern California carpenters, saying the proposed rates were too high and would push contractors to hire nonunion workers. The rejected package would have raised wages to 13.51 per hour in the final year of a three year agreement and restored a 30 cent per hour increase voided by the federal Pay Board.
