Narcotics use by teens in middle class Pittsburgh
An editor’s note accompanies a Pittsburgh feature in which teens discuss obtaining narcotics with forged prescriptions. The piece, based on conversations with about a dozen youths, describes how a 19-year-old drug user can write his own prescriptions, use so called friends to obtain pads, and choose pharmacies to avoid police checks. Two teens died and four hospitalized from a dilaudid overdose, prompting warnings about phony prescriptions among white, middle class youths.
