Smog Forecast From APCD for Los Angeles Basin
The Air Pollution Control District predicts light to moderate smog in the Los Angeles Basin today with ozone peaks near 0.30 ppm in the San Gabriel Valley and lower readings in East San Fernando and Pomona Walnut Valleys. Eye irritation is noted in several areas, and visibility is reduced to about 10 miles due to photochemical haze. Peak readings exceed hourly standards at multiple locations.

Water Cutoff Threat At St Louis Zoo
St Louis water commissioner Conway Briscoe sent reconnaissance teams to the zoo to locate water valves in case he orders a 700s water cut off. The Zoological Board of Control has until next Monday to pay a delinquent 23352 dollar bill while the administration building and concession stands could lose water. Truancy Trial Nears San Mateo for Belmont Couple
Jury selection began in San Mateo County central municipal court for the truancy case of Dr Howard J Scott and his wife Margaret charged with illegally keeping five of their 13 children from school. They refused to send the five youngest, aged 8 to 14, claiming schools teach humanism and secularism, not education.
