Movie idea sparks real life bus kidnapping case
Readings from transcripts show a plot idea allegedly inspired the 26 child kidnapping involving a school bus driver. James Schoenfeld, 25, and brothers Richard 4 and Frederick No Wosats 95 pleaded guilty in Alameda County Superior Court. Reports cite diary entries and grand jury transcripts detailing motives, reactions, and how the escape of the children altered the course of the investigation. The couple’s mother described her sons as Eagle Scouts whose crime shocked families and prompted blame of sensational media portrayals. The case included coded notes and statements claiming the crime would be a big film-like event with extensive public interest.
