Noise hurts: experts warn long exposure can cause damage
Acoustic scientist Meyer Lepor at the Naval Underseas Center in San Diego reports that prolonged loud noise causes partial or total deafness, visual and sleep disruptions, hypertension indicators, and possible links to epilepsy and heart disease. He cites Navy studies on ships and aircraft decks and urges noise reduction, isolation, and sound absorbing measures. Registration for Artesia High School swimming, summer session, will be Friday 9am to 4pm at the pool office.
