Apollo 11 astronauts Armstrong and Aldrin calmed long held moon fears by revealing no pits, no meteor showers, and no deadly radioactivity during 24 hours on the lunar surface. Germs being tested, quarantine remains, and life on the moon were debated amidst prior century moon myths.
Scientists begin examining moon rock samples arriving at the Lunar Receiving Laboratory with utmost caution. Armstrong and Aldrin sealed the rocks in two metal boxes on the moon, then the specimens will be opened in a vacuum cabinet for initial testing before distribution to an international panel of researchers.
