Navy Wives Organize Philanthropy and Family Festivities
In naval circles, wives engage in community philanthropy through the Navy Relief Society and thrift shop drives. Last week they collected dolls for a Christmas toy sale and hosted events to fund waiting-room decorations. A luncheon hosted by Rear Adm K L Veth included civilian staff from Long Beach Naval Shipyard. Families of commanding officers aboard several destroyers welcomed returning sailors from WESPAC, with a joy-filled homecoming as reservists prepare for August inactive status.
