Burglar tries Senate subcommittee offices break in
A well dressed burglar attempted to pick the lock at the Senate Permanent Investigation Subcommittee offices on Capitol Hill late after hours, but fled when a secretary screamed. The subcommittee led by Senator Henry Jackson is probing a Vesco related heroin case and agency sweep claims. An armed guard was posted outside the door. Police reported the intruder had short dark hair and wore a conservative suit. Earlier investigators had returned from California with charges that Vesco paid two agents to burgle his home and offices in June 1972.
