Harris Survey Shows Students Favor Internal Reform Over Violence
The Harris survey of 820 students at 50 colleges finds a majority favor changing the system from within by electing better public officials and pressuring officials, with 39 percent planning to campaign for peace candidates and two million students potentially active in the 1970 elections. A large share disapproves of violent tactics and most see democracy as capable of delivering change through public pressure and political participation.
