Unions Probed on Bias by Equal Opportunity Commission
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announces a probe into bias within unions. It plans mail surveys to members and requires unions with 100 or more members to file reports. Apprenticeship committees with five or more apprentices sponsored by employers also face reporting. Minority groups including Negro, Spanish American, American Indian, and Oriental are noted in the inquiry.
